How to make Sautéed Baby Spinach

This recipe is easy to make. First, you need the following ingredients:

  • Spinach: use either bady spinach or regular spinach. If using regular spinach remove the stems and cut them thinly so they cook at the same time with the leaves. No wasting of food here!
  • Seasonings: fresh garlic is usually the best to use in cooking. For this recipe it is a must for aroma and flavor. Salt and pepper are common spices and found in your cupboard. Freshly ground black pepper or peppercorn add the the ultimate taste.

To make the spinach

  • Clean and prep the baby spinach if it is required. If cleaning is required, fill up a large bowl with water and add a couple of tablespoons of white vinegar. Give the leave a quick soak and then rinse under running water. Place in a salad spinner to remove any excess moisture. 
  • In a large skillet, under medium-high heat, add oil and garlic. Sauté the for about 1 minute until the pieces are beginning to turn brown. Add spinach to the pan, packing it down a bit with a spatula. Using 2 spatulas or a kitchen tongue, turn the spinach and garlic so that everything is coated with olive oil. Turn a few times until the leaves start to wilt. Remove the pan and transfer the spinach to a platter for serving. Serve immediately.

  • The excess liquid from the cooked spinach contains tons of vitamins. Do not discard. Bread lovers, it is time to soak a piece of bread and enjoy all the delicious flavors from the spinach.
