If you haven’t done so, add vanilla extract to your lemonade. Fresh Vanilla Lemonade is just what the name says – lemonade with vanilla extract. I don’t know if all individuals from the Caribbean add vanilla extract to their lemonade, but it is the norm with Haitians. I am not aware of when it started but it seems that the recipe has been around for a long time.
When you want to try something new, add a splash of vanilla extract to your lemonade. By the way, a good vanilla extract is perfect to use not only with lemonade but also with every recipe requiring it.
And please, do not attempt to have a debate with a Haitian person about vanilla, because she or he will tell you that we have the best vanilla extract – I will attest to that. Even a Chef/Instructor at a reputable Culinary School agreed. Sorry guys, but it is true.
