Seasoning Salt was created to add flavor to our dishes, to add the “oomph” without spending time mixing different types of herbs and spices. But do our dishes taste better with seasoning salt?
I am not going to lie. I thought it did when I was using it. But it did more harm than good. Many people will use it for cooking for large crowds because it’s cheaper and readily available. There are several other alternatives, and many people will complain that they are too expensive. But what about restaurants’ foods? Can we trust that the chefs use healthy ingredients as they might claim on their menu? Who do we trust?
Salt is considered a killer if not controlled properly. We know that our body needs salt. Having the right amount of salt is recommended to avoid illnesses such as high blood pressure that is associated with having too much sodium in your body.
Most packaged foods contain an abundant amount of sodium. By avoiding and gradually eliminating any sodium excess, we can keep our blood pressure low, and keep our bones, heart, and kidney healthy.
How to stop cooking with seasoning salt
One of the best ways to stop cooking with seasoning salt and start cooking healthy is to use fresh and healthy ingredients. Cooking at home help, you avoid adding too much sodium when compared to food served at restaurants.
Many dishes can be prepared only with fresh herbs and spices and without salt. The way to do it is to find out which herbs and spice will give you the most flavor, so you don’t miss the salt that much. It may take some time for your palate you get adjusted, but eventually, you will be okay.
