The ingredients needed for the Lobster Roll Recipe

  • Lobster meat: use leftover or store-bought lobster meat. You can also buy fresh lobster and steam and remove the meat from the claws and the tail.
  • Butter: use unsalted butter. The bread contains salt as well as mayonnaise.
  • Mayonnaise: use a good brand and without corn syrup to be on the healthy side.
  • Lemon juice and zest: seafood always needs an acidic note. Use fresh lemon juice and not bottle stuff.
  • Scallions: to add flavor and a fresh taste
  • Mini Sweet Bell Peppers: for flavor and crunchiness – add 1 red, 1 orange and 1 yellow to add a beautiful aray of colors to the mixture.
  • Chili Pepper (Cayenne pepper or your hot pepper of choice) will add heat and a nice aroma to the lobster mixture.
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper: for added flavor.
  • Soft, split-top Brioche buns or hot dog buns: brioche buns are the preferred choice because of their flavor and texture.

How to make the Lobster Roll Recipe

The easiest way to make the lobster roll recipe is to have steamed lobster already on hand. If not, you will have to do some extra work.

  1. The first step is to rinse the lobster meat and pick through for any loose shells. Next, drain thoroughly to remove any leftover tiny shell pieces. When properly drained, the mayonnaise mixture will not get watery. Cut, or chop the lobster meat into large chunks and set aside.
  2. Mix the sweet peppers, mayonnaise, scallions, lemon juice, lemon zest, kosher salt, and ground black pepper in a large bowl—taste for seasoning.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter and add the lobster meat. Cook, stirring gently for 2 minutes, until the lobster meat is well coated with the butter. Use a slotted spoon to remove the lobster meat from the butter and into the mayonnaise mixture and toss to coat. Discard butter and juice released from the lobster and wipe out the skillet.
  4. Load the buns with the lobster meat mixture and garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve with chips and Hibiscus Iced Tea or Hibiscus Mocktail.
