Pan Seared Tuna Steak Salad

Cooking Fresh Tuna Steak is very easy. As a versatile type of seafood, a good tuna steak seasoning is essential for a delicious dish. The seasoning must contain fresh herbs, spices, and an acidic agent.

For this recipe, I chose to use fresh Yellowfin Tuna. You can certainly make the same recipe with salmon or swordfish. It is better to use a firm fish for this recipe as well. Firm flesh fish hold their shape much better.

Yellowfin Tuna Steak can be found in your local supermarket in the seafood section. You can also visit your local fishmonger.

Seasoning your fish

I chose to spice the tuna up with Noubess Hot and Spicy Sauce. I decided on that particular flavor because tuna is a type of fish that requires bold flavors. Just salt and pepper won’t cut it! Not even with a few drops of lemon or lime juice.

The steaks are pan-seared to perfection in olive oil and Noubess Hot and Spicy Sauce. About 3 – 5 minutes per side should be fine. You will notice in the recipe that I did not add salt or pepper. I also did not use lime or lemon.

Noubess hot sauce contains about 25 mg of sodium per serving size, equal to 1 teaspoon. The acidic level of the hot sauce is sufficient to season the steaks properly. Can you imagine how many delicious meals you can create?

Serving the tuna steak

Tuna Steaks are usually served with salad. Many prefer a simple salad, lettuce leaves, cucumber, tomato, onion, or scallions.

These days, avocados are very popular. I served the tuna steaks with a few chunks of avocado for a smooth texture. I also added dried figs for a little bit of sweetness.

You can serve the salad with a homemade vinaigrette. But I would suggest trying it first without, as all the flavors make a delicious and aromatic marriage together.

Making the tuna steaks

Buying tuna is relatively easy. You will usually find precut steaks sold fresh or vacuumed and packed in the freezer section. Whichever you choose, your meal will still be delicious. But again, there’s no comparison with fresh seafood.

This recipe is relatively simple. It is effortless and does not require a lot of work. You can add more ingredients or change the recipe to your liking. All hot and spicy condiments are not the same, so choose one that will add the right amount of heat and flavor to your dish.
