Reasons to Inspect Your Hotel Room Before Unpacking
Before you even start to unpack your luggage in your hotel room, it is a good idea to inspect the room from top to bottom. Look for any signs of bed bugs, spots that haven’t been cleaned and dirty items that the cleaning service may have missed. By looking for these before you unpack, you can avoid sleeping in a dirty bed or taking unwanted critters back to your home town.
If the room is not up to your standards, it is okay to ask for a new one. After all, you paid a large amount of money to stay in a comfortable room so it should be clean. Check the bed for crumbs, hairs, or anything else that may have been left behind. In addition when looking around the room, check for leaking water, mold, or mildew that could cause you to become uncomfortable during the stay.
Next go into the bathroom and check the toilet and shower to ensure everything has been cleaned appropriately. If there are still rings in the tub or remnants in the toilet, it would be appropriate to ask for a better room. Furthermore, make sure all the toiletries are in place, and if you need extra call the front desk so they can send them up.
Another thing to inspect is the air conditioner and vents to ensure they are free of dust and debris. If you have allergies or are sensitive to dust, this could make your whole trip uncomfortable. If you notice these things, ask for a different room or ask if room service can clean them right away.
It is important to inspect your hotel room to ensure it has been properly cleaned and sanitized for your stay. It is not unreasonable to ask for a different room if your needs have not been met.
