The easiest Leek Pie you will ever make

This Leek Pie is the ultimate healthy comfort food dish! It is made with pre-cooked and perfectly seasoned leeks, heavy cream, and loads of cheese baked in a storebought pie shell.

The aroma of freshly baked pie makes everyone happy. I enjoy making pies for Sunday brunch. It is one of the best dishes to serve when you have friends and family over.

An easy way to quickly enjoy a delicious pie is by using a storebought pie crust. Many people may not want to buy the already made pie crust because of its taste and freshness. I can agree to disagree. There are many different brands to choose from and that taste good. The best thing to do is read the instructions on the packaging, ingredients, and nutrition facts.

To make the leek pie, you need the following ingredients

  • 1 (9 inch) refrigerated store-bought pie crust: Thi item can be found in the freezer area of your local supermarket. It is better to choose a deep dish pie crust for all your pie recipes.
  • Unsalted butter: I always use unsalted butter for my baked good.
  • Fresh leeks: it is best to buy fresh whole leeks instead of frozen leeks. Fresh leeks are more flavorful and are low in calories and high in fiber. You only have to slice the stalk thin, and wash thouroughly to remove any dirt.
  • Mrs. Dash Original or Noubess Garlic and Herbs Seasoning: 2 seasoning blends for this prefect pie recipe.
  • Salt and black pepper to taste: use as needed.
  • Egg: a large egg preferrably and at room temprature.
  • Heavy cream: I prefer heavy cream with pie and quiche. If you are watching your figure you can use light cream instead of heavy cream.
  • Shredded Parmesan, Asiago or Gruyere cheese: these are my 3 go-to cheeses for savory pies and mac and cheese.
  • Seasoned bread crumbs: so much better than plain bread crumbs. It adds more flavor.

The instructions for the leek pie are simple and easy to follow

  1. Follow the directions on how to use the frozen pie shell. When ready follow the remaining instructions.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F .
  3. In a bowl whisk together the egg and the milk. Set aside.
  4. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the leeks to the pan followed by seasoning (salt and pepper/Mrs. Dash or Noubess Garlic and herbs Seasoning). Stir to mix. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes, or until soft. Adjust the seasoning. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the cream mixture. Add the cheese, and slowly heat up the mixture. Once the cheese has started to melt, and the mixture is heated through, remove from the heat and pour mixture into the pie shell.
  5. Add the shredded cheese and top with breadcrumbs.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the mixture is set and golden on top. Let the pie cool for at least 8-10 minutes before serving.
