The top items to pack for a day at the beach

The Top Items to Pack for a Day at the Beach: Heading out to the beach for a day of fun, sun, and water is always an excellent idea, but what happens when you arrive only to realize you’ve forgotten a few essential items?

That’s precisely why you’ll find this blog so helpful, as it can act as your go-to list that you’ll be able to add to and remove items from, making sure you never forget anything as you head out the door. So let’s get started, shall we!

Sun Protection

Perhaps the essential items to pack have to do with sun protection. Nothing will ruin a day at the beach faster than sunburn. So be prepared and take plenty of sunscreens, a hat, sunglasses, an umbrella, and a beach cover-up/t-shirt/shorts. By bringing each of these items along, you’re sure to be able to handle the sun for the whole day without going home in pain.

Swimming Gear

And what’s the beach without a chance to swim? So with that said, you’ll want to pack your swimsuit, a towel for drying off, and water shoes if you prefer to wear them. In this same category is any gear you may want to use while in the water, such as goggles, fins, a snorkel, an air mattress, a chair you can place in the water, and anything else you may need.

Dry Gear

Because you may not want to be on the beach all day, you’ll want to pack a change of dry clothes, including shoes. If you’re going to grab a bite to eat mid-day, at least you’ll have some dry clothes to go out in.

Beach Activities

This category is a bit more varied. If you’re heading to the beach with kids, you’ll want to take a variety of beach toys such as a shovel and pail, a beach ball, sand molds, a Frisbee, and anything else the kids enjoy playing with. A large beach blanket or towel that you can sit on is a must or a packable chair that you can unfold on the beach. Lastly, you can throw your favorite book, magazine, or music into your bag so that you can relax and enjoy the day.

A Waterproof Beach Bag

So now that you’ve got all this gear, what’s the best way to pack it? A waterproof beach bag with a zipper to keep sand and insects out is always the best way to go. It’s also a great idea to bring along a small cooler bag with some cold water bottles and snacks in it.
