Why walking is so good for you

Living in the Caribbean means you spend a lot of time outdoors exploring and walking around. You probably don’t think about how great walking is for you as you tour the towns and cities getting your errands done, but the fact of the matter is that walking is much more than just exercise for your body. There is not a huge difference between living abroad or in the Caribbean as there are all kinds of benefits to walking, which may just motivate you to walk more often.

Boost your Blood Circulation

When you start walking you will start to boost the blood circulation in your body which results in lower pressure and your heart rate will rise. At the same time the improved circulation means you have less chance of developing heart disease because you are strengthening your heart.

Helps with Insomnia

For those who have a hard time falling asleep or staying asleep, add walking to your daily regime. It’s suggested that you walk in the morning for a period of 60 minutes and by doing this you should see improvement in your sleeping habits.

Raise your Stamina, Strength, and Endurance

Over time as you walk more often and further, you’ll notice that you start to become stronger, you have more energy and stamina, and you don’t become winded quite so easily. These improvements will carry over into other activities in your life as well.

Feel Happier

Another fabulous benefit of walking is that it can really boost your mood making you feel happier, less stressed, and less worried. Think of it as a quick little mood boost, and who couldn’t use that from time to time.

It’s Environmentally Friendly

People are now very aware of the environment and are consciously trying to do their part to try to protect it. Walking is about as environmentally friendly as you can get, so whenever you can replace getting a cab, driving, or taking a motorcycle walking will certainly do the environment good.

An Excellent Weight Management Tool

Plenty of people struggle with their weight on a daily basis and if that sounds like you, then it’s time to start walking. By walking one hour a day, seven days a week, you can not only manage your weight but you can lose inches in the process.

Get Moving

Walking is such a versatile activity that you can do it on your own, as a group of friends, with family, or with that special someone. The whole point is to get out there, get some exercise, and enjoy the many other benefits.

Walking Steep and rugged road

Lastly, after indulging in lavish meals, the best exercise that can aid digestion is walking. Walking on a flat road is ideal. If you want to work your legs’ muscles a little more,  a steep hill, stairs or rugged terrain may be ideal, but not after eating a large or heavy meal. A light meal is recommended for walking on very steep roads or a rugged terrain because your muscles need more oxygen and your body will require more energy. The best way to enjoy your walk is to take your time and exercise proper breathing.
