Delicious Vegetable Porridge

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 garlic cloves chopped
  • 2 - 3 Carrots sliced or cubed
  • 2 - 3 parsnip sliced or cubed
  • 2 - 3 turnips sliced or cubed
  • 1 large potato or 2 small size potatoes cubed
  • ½ of a small Cabbage sliced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 sprigs parsley
  • 1 sprig thyme
  • 1 tsp Noubess Original Hot and Spicy Sauce
  • 8 cups water or 2 quarts
  • ¼ tsp Smoked Paprika optional
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder optional
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Salt and Pepper to taste


  • Peel and cube the vegetable. In a pot over medium heat, melt the butter, add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the vegetables, the fresh herbs, Noubess Original Hot and Spicy Sauce and season with salt and pepper.
  • Add the water and cook the vegetables for about 20 minutes or until they are fully cooked.
  • Removed from the heat and let cool. Drain the cooked vegetables and place them in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
  • Return the puree to the pot with the reserved liquid, add the oil and mix well. Bring to a boil and boil for only 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and serve.


  • Use leeks instead of onion.
  • Use fewer carrots if you don’t want the porridge to be too orangy.
  • Add paprika, cumin, or turmeric for more flavor. Remember that the color of the porridge will change.
  • If you want to change the consistency, add only hot water tome the porridge into a soup-like consistency.
  • No need to be concern about the type of potato to use.
  • Use a good blender to puree the veggies.
  • Add a couple of drops of Noubess Sorento Lemon Extra-Virgin Olive Oil or a couple of drops of lemon juice for extra flavor.
  • Adding more Noubess Hot and Spicy Sauce is a good idea only if you can take the heat. More flavor!
