The Magic of Moroccan Spices

The key to this recipe lies in the Moroccan spice mixture. While store-bought options can work well, you can also create your own unique blend!

DIY Spice Blend or Store-Bought Convenience:

  • Store-bought Moroccan Seasoning: Many brands offer pre-made Moroccan seasoning blends. Experiment to find one that suits your taste. These blends typically include warming spices like cumin, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, and sometimes a touch of cayenne pepper.
  • DIY Moroccan Spice Blend: Create your blend for a more personalized touch! Here are some spices commonly found in Moroccan cuisine:
    • Cumin
    • Coriander
    • Ginger
    • Cinnamon
    • Cayenne pepper (optional)
    • Turmeric
    • Paprika
    • Black pepper
    • Saffron (for a luxurious touch)

Brining for Extra Flavor (Optional):

While not essential, brining can add another layer of flavor and moisture to your turkey breast. A simple brine can be made with just three ingredients:

  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Moroccan seasoning (store-bought or your DIY blend)

Simply combine these ingredients and submerge the turkey breast in the brine for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight.

Slow Cooker Simplicity:

The beauty of this recipe lies in the slow cooker. Here’s how to create this delicious cold cut:

  1. Season the Turkey: Choose your preferred method – a store-bought Moroccan seasoning blend or your DIY version. Rub the spices generously all over the turkey breast. Add a touch of Noubess Hot and Spicy Sauce (or your favorite hot sauce) to the rub for an extra kick.
  2. Slow Cooker Symphony: Place sliced carrots or onions (optional) in the bottom of your slow cooker. Add the seasoned turkey breast and pour in about a cup of warm water or chicken broth.
  3. Low and Slow: Cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the turkey’s internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) as measured by a meat thermometer.
  4. Cooling Down: Once cooked, remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Slice and Savor: Thinly slice the turkey breast against the grain once cool. Enjoy it on its own, on a sandwich, or add it to your next charcuterie board!
